What happened in Russia in 1917 that led the United States to justify its involvement in World War I as a fight for democracy? Russia signed a military defense treaty with France and Great Britain. Russia signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk and made peace with the Germans. Russian revolutionaries overthrew the Czar and established a provisional government. Russian Bolsheviks, under Vladimir Lenin's leadership, toppled the provisional government.
Russia had the communist or Bolshevik revolution and murdered countless people. America joined WW1 mostly due to the president Wilson. War is profitable and he wanted to have America come out on top. He spread a lie that Germany was planning on getting Mexico to attack America so the newspapers propagated this idea, it was completely false. The people called for entry and we invaded Belgium region in 1917.
