Work through this with me?? What is the rate of change for f(x) = −2 cos 4x − 3 on the interval from x = 0 to x = ?

OpenStudy (freckles):

you are looking for the average rate of change over what interval? well if you are really finding the average rate of change of f over the interval x=0 to x=? then you just evaluate: \[\frac{f(?)-f(0)}{?-0}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would you do with the ? @freckles

OpenStudy (freckles):

plug it into f just like you plug in 0 into the f

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you plug in a question mark lol

OpenStudy (freckles):

\[f(?)=-2\cos(4?)-3\]
