A pole 6m high has a shadow 10 m long when the shadow of a nearby building is 220 m long. How tall is the building? Which ratio is equal to the ratio of the height of the building to its shadow? A.3/5 B.5/3 C.3/110 I have been working on this for 30 minutes know and I cant get the answer...>.<
Now*
height of pole/length of pole's shadow = height of building/length of building's shadow let x = height of building height of pole = 6 length of pole's shadow = 10 length of building's shadow = 220 6/10 = x/220 cross multiply and solve for x
oh, I guess they're looking for the ratio, so after you find the height of the building, you would divide height of building/length of building's shadow
so basically multiply 6*220 and then divide the answer that you get with 10, and that will equal x.
