can someone tell me if im doing this right?
\[A(t)=31,959(1+\frac{ 4.39 }{ 12 })^{12t}\] \[31,595=(1.37)^{12t}\] \[31,959=(43.72)^{t}\]
now im stuck
If you put a ln in front of both sides then the t will come down. So you would have ln(31959)=tln(43.72) an then can divide each side by ln(43.72)
what the ln for?
It's the natural logarithm
so what would it be after you divide by ln(43.72)? sorry i dont have a scientific or graphing calc with me
After the division you would find that t= 2.74556, I don't know how many significant digits you would want
what does it mean when it says "you want figure out how many months it will be until your principal is paid down to $10,000.00."
does that mean you put 10,000 in the P spot or subtract your cars price until you get 10,000?
Just to clarify the initial price of the car is 31959? If so then you would put the 10,000 where the A(t) is and solve for time
\[10,000=31,595(1+\frac{ 4.39 }{ 12 })^{12t}\] \[.317=(1.37)^{12t}\] \[.317=(43.72)^{t}\]
and then divide by ln43.72?
@taramgrant0543664
That's what I would have done.
can you tell me what that is after you divide?
I'm sorry something is wrong as it comes out as a negative number so something is off and I am trying figure out what happened! Sorry!!
can you also tell me what 31,595 divided by ln62.59 is please?
and it said its supposed to be a negative so you didnt mess up!
I should also note that when you ln the one side you have to ln the other as well
31595 divided by ln62.59 is 7637.9 ln31595 divided by ln62.59 is 2.50
I always just assume that when I see a negative value I am wrong as I am a chemistry major and when things are negative it normally means I did something really wrong! ln0.317 divided by ln43.72 equals -0.304
i understand! thank you so much!
Your welcome! Sorry for the small confusion but hopefully it's good now lol!
it is! lol
