For the Computer Science section being a MOOC and junior accelerating student; I feel it significantly needs more improvement and development to help tutor and facilitate those with an interest in HTML, cloud computing and technology advanced courses. My recommendation is that OS partners with Microsoft, or help redefine "Computer Science" and help make this subject on the website more well known. Seems like when I tag a user to my question; they aren't interested to really help. Would kindly like some insight about what we should do to make this area more popular?
Partnership with a specific corporation like Microsoft isn't that easy, but you mention a specific issue: Big community in Math but no community in the other groups. The problem with CS is that there are hundreds of communities around. I'm in over 10 different communities, with people working on interesting projects that want to help you. It is a harder market, there is more competition. But it would be a good idea to redefine the cs group...
I'm in favor for this response; @osanseviero personally do know these companies well and could easily contact HR of them; with permission of OS. Right now currently welcome everyone to give a true input on the CS subject and what we should do to improve it.
yes i agree with @misssunshinexxoxo
@misssunshinexxoxo yeah agree, nice idea...
We need to attract more users that do help in that specific section...
The actual question was: Would kindly like some insight about what we should do to make this area more popular? I don't know what the rest of you except osanseviero are talking about :P Some ways to make that section popular could be to make one medal gotten in computer science to be doubled. That would most likely interest users to learn some computer science and/or help out in it too.
Oh, if the section got a feature like that, it would get a \(lot\) of \(negative\) attention. Spamming medal spammers! :P
You need to think on what OS is offering. What can OS offer to new users that other sites are not giving them? Try to think in that instead of thinking directly about features
Well if any kind of web development help was to be done on this site, there would have to be a collaborative preview like https://jsbin.com/
How do we generate more interest in the CS section? What do you feel would help?
People not interested in the topic would not instantly become interested just by knowing about it. Perhaps some examples (like some cool finished projects) of what one can do with knowledge in CS would spark some interest.
Thank you for your response. Do you feel that OS should improve the CS section to generate more audience?
I'm not sure what improvements could be made other than having a section for people to post their projects they need help with or post their finished projects.
Have a better area to allow students taking IT classes to ask questions and overview projects; somehow I feel OS should create projects for learners to become more interested to code C#, HTML, and typescript. Innovation and talent is a gateway through technology in this society.
I guess we don't have many computer science/IT students here on OS.Computer Science is a pretty broad field and we don't have sections through which we can differentiate between different Areas on OS
I feel like no one knows the users who would be of great help in the CS section, so not many people can get good help. Maybe OS doesn't need to improve the section, but rather make it clear who would be of better help. I'm not sure how this would happen tough. But, I've seen an earlier suggestion saying it would be nice to see users not in the order of their SS, but how many medals they received, and I think that may benefit sections like this. So in this way, OS wouldn't be making the CS section (or other sections) more popular for you to get help, but you would know which users would be of use to you.
