If a + b = 8, b + c = 9, and c + a = 11, what is the average of a, b and c ? How to find average in such situation?

why is the denominator 3? does it have something to do with the number of equations involved? or something else?

I understood what was going on until the (a+b+c)/3
so if a+b+c =14
is our average 14/3?

@UsukiDoll what I understand about 2 is that a,b and c are occurring twice so adding them will give (2a + 2b + 2c) taking out common "2"
will give 2(a + b + c) :D
