In WWII the Allies were the U.S, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. The Axis countries were Germany, Japan, and Italy. The end of the war ended turmoil between the countries.

And how they rebounded? Well, unlike the last conflict, the Allied Powers decided to be merciful, and they assisted the former Axis countries in rebuilding their economy and buildings. They gave them cause to become friends as opposed to enemies.
