OpenStudy (misssunshinexxoxo):

Merit system - Confucianism is very meritocratic, emphasizing ability over birth right in appointing officials. Going back to the Confucian rule of Han Wudi during the former Han dynasty, China has chosen its officials through a meritocratic examination system which tested knowledge of the Confucian classics.

oregonduck (oregonduck):

OpenStudy (misssunshinexxoxo):

Yes the answer is A

OpenStudy (misssunshinexxoxo):

Landscape painting - Not especially influenced by Confucianism, I suppose it's more of a Taoist concept. Writing system - Confucianism along with Judaism emphasizes teaching and learning more than any other religious philosophy. Since officials were the main literati group, and since to become an official one had to have a firm knowledge of the Confucian classics, those who designed the writing system were Confucian. Mechanical thought - Not especially Confucian, indeed Confucianism prefers political thought to mechanical thought and is also a very conservative ideology. They were staunchly opposed to new mechanical innovations, but neither did many promote it.
