Start with a summary of same-sex relations and then move on to humane rights then state your stance on the subject providing supporting points and so on.

Start with what your stance on that issue is, i.e. Yes or No. (So, you know what you should look up when you are building your defense.) Then, go to the "what is", state your stance, defend your stance, summarize.

I always start with either a statistic or a fact, as they usually grasp the attention of the reader the most.

Do researcher and find out why people are with it and against it

After you compiled a good amount of sources, begin writing :)

I put emotion into my writing because it makes it "my own" and it also makes it a lot more entertaining

Lastly use analogies. The last two things, are points that I have found that work for me, but it is all opinion xD

I would advise to not include religious stance, because a lot of people have different personal opinions, and it can some times create conflict
