♠Effect of caffeine on the heart rate of Daphnia♠ (Experiment 1) (Easy 9 points)
☻ The following experiment is described in the easiest and simple words so that you all can easily understand☻ Daphnia are tiny aquatic invertebrates. They're transparent, so you can see their internal organs. This means it's pretty easy to monitor their heart rate by observing them through a microscope.
♠Here's how you could investigate the effect of caffeine on their heart rate♠ 1) Make up a range of caffeine solutions of different concentrations and a control solution that has no caffeine in it all♣ 2) Transfer one Daphnia into the dimple on a cavity slide ( A MICROSCOPE SLIDE WITH A ROUNDED DIP) ♣ 3) Place a slide onto a stage of a light microscope and focus it on the beating heart of the Daphnia ♣ 4) Place a small drop of caffeine solution onto the Daphnia 5) Count the number of heartbeats in 10 seconds and multiply this by six to calculate beats per minute ♣ 6) Repeat this 10 times using the same concentrations of caffeine but a different Daphnia individual each time . 7) DON'T FORGET to keep all other factors constant (e:g Temperature and Volume of caffeine solutions ) ♣ 8) Repeat the experiment using the other concentrations of caffeine solutions 9) Compare the results to see how caffeine concentrations affect heart rate e:g BY DRAWING A GRAPH ♣
☻Thank you for reading☻
good experimentation...if u done it by ur own thn bravo
Thank you ☻
what is the conclusion of ths exp besides its statistics?
Heart rate increase as Caffeine concentrations increase :)
that's why increased amount of caffeine is not good for health as it increased the heart rate not only in daphnia but in all the multi cellular organisms as well, Thus increasing the risk of getting CVD'S
increases**
great conclusion :)
Thanks :D
Good work :)
Thanks ☻☺
Nice :-)
thnx :)
the experiment shows the effects of caffeine to heart rate relative to concentration it does not show anything about CVD
you can, however, do an experiment to measure average threshold when certain high levels of caffeine may induce myocardial infarction
okay....thanks :)
maybe i shouldn't drink straight espresso then lel
LoL. :D
i'll show you a simple daphnia experiment
thank you nin :)
