Choose the slope-intercept equation of the line that passes through the point (-2, 2) and is parallel to y = 4x + 7. y = 4x + 10 y = one fourthx + 5 halves y = -4x - 6 y = -one fourthx + 3 halves

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

First off we can cancel off any of the ones that have a negative slope as the line would be perpendicular to the slope not parallel, so that cancels out the last two options. To determine which of the remaining ones are right we can also look at which one looks similar there is an option that has the same slope and one that is different. The one that is one fourth would not be parallel to the y=4x+7 because it would increase at a slower rate. So therefore y=4x+10 is the one that follows the requirements.
