Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have it in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our Chiefs are killed; Looking Glass is dead, Ta Hool Hool Shute is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets; the little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are—perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my Chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.

I think it's A, because how could you find the people? They're all dead now. But the question says "How could someone best determine if the speaker IS telling the truth about his people?" not WAS. So now I'm not so sure.

I was thinking D because you would have to see it to believe it.

Your choice is correct but there asking for the best way and seeing something helps you understand what happened but reading it you dont get the full perspective.

Mine would be C because when newspaper crews do this type of stuff they mostly like to go to the people and ask there opinion and find out how it all happend.

Yeah but they would be asking their opinions, so it's not accurate. Cause different men could have waaay different opinions.

True they could be in shock and forget everything that happened. and then they will end up telling the wrong information.
