I think it is auxin or absicisic acid. because those of it is talked about hormone.
Absicsic acid is plant hormone involved in dormancy and responses to stress .
Auxin is a plant hormone involved in various aspects of growth and development.

Earlier it was though that abscisic acid has a role in it but later it was found that auxins have major role in triggering leaf abscission.
