Which of the following phase changes would absorb energy as it occurs? Melting Condensing Freezing Solidifying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it Melting?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

How can you say that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because melting act so quickly ;-;

OpenStudy (abhisar):

:O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.O im right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did not get a medal so im not right ;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right? that im not right?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

For melting something you have to provide energy. For example if you want to melt wax you need to heat it (remember that heat is a form of energy). Thus melting is a process which always requires energy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solidifying! the opposite of melting

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait. since heat is a form of energy then it is melting

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or not right? o.O

OpenStudy (abhisar):

To solidify something like freezing water into ice you need to remove energy from it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sugarplum15 ... help? ;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Melting!!! Solid → Liquid = to gaining (absorbing) energy which in this case is temperature

OpenStudy (abhisar):

I have already given you the relevant info now it's upto you to select the correct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was right ;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why just not say i was right? xD lol

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@sugarplum15 , just to clarify, Temperature is not energy. It just the measure of hotness or coldness. Heat is energy :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because you have to gain the correct answer yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait. i check my last quiz. I was right ;-;

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Are you taking a quiz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
