This is more physics related but I believe is this is relevant to speed as speed is in distance/time if it were acceleration it would be distance/time^2

Acceleration is the change in velocity over time v2-v1/t2-t1 and is a vector with both magnitude and direction. So remember slope means change in y over x velocity is y and x is time.
