Johnny and Mary Elizabeth ate lunch at McDucks. Johnny purchased 4 hotdogs and 3 drinks for $11. Mary Elizabeth purchased 2 hotdogs and 2 drinks for $6. Let x represent the cost of each hot dog and y the cost of each drink. Write the system you would used to find the cost for one hotdog and one drink and state the cost of each.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

4x + 3y = 11 2x + 2y = 6

yw

OpenStudy (welshfella):

to find the value of x and y multiply the first equation by -2 and the second by 3

OpenStudy (welshfella):

adding the 2 new equation will eliminate y so you can then find x then to find y plug in the value of x you just found into one of the original equations and solve for y

Thnx for ur help!
