A system of linear inequalities is shown below: x + y ≥ 4 y < 2x - 3 Describe the steps to graph the solution set to the system of inequalities

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

This is how you graph an inequality: 1. Change the inequality into an equation by replacing the inequality symbol with an equal sign. 2. Graph the equation using a solid line if the inequality had ≥ or ≤ or using a dashed line if the inequality had a > or a <. 3. The solid or dashed line separates the plane into two half-planes. Pick a point in one of the half-planes and test it in the original inequality. 4. If the point works, then shade the half-plane the point is in. If the point does not work, then shade the other half-plane.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To graph a system of inequalities, use the method above for each of the inequalities. The solution is the overlap of the shading of the two inequalities.

ill try it

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Great. I have to go. If you have questions, ask them, and I'll answer when I get back online.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i have one more ill go ahead and post it now then

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

ok bye
