Help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Stephen earned scores of 88 points, 94 points, 89 points, and 85 points on four tests. What is the lowest score he can get on the fifth test and still finish with an average score of 90 points?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Loser66 can you help?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Where are you stuck?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought it was 95

OpenStudy (loser66):

why?

OpenStudy (loser66):

Let x is the required score, then \(\dfrac {88+94+89+85+x}{5}=90\) solve for x, please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An average is all divided by the number of numbers. So we have 88 89 94 85. This would be (88+89+94+85+x)/5 = 90

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol while I was typing loser66 beat me to it

OpenStudy (loser66):

:) I am sorry. I didn't see you were typing. If I saw it, I didn't interfere other's stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

97?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe x is 97.
