there is an expression that you could memorize to do it but , also you could do it Put your points in a graphic and draw the line that passes through these points |dw:1436038487197:dw| |dw:1436038609076:dw| m is your slope and is equal to \[m= tg(\theta)\] \[m=\frac{ 8 }{4 }\] then your equation has this form \[y=mx+b\] \[y=2x+b\] to find your b(intercept) you have to replace of the points that the problem gives you for example , solving this equation for (2,14) \[14=2(2)+b\] \[b=10\]
