Here is a FAQ http://ocw.mit.edu/help/faq-using-ocw-materials/ The good news is that the courses are free, and especially those denoted with an SC in their name, allow self-study at your own pace. (The down-side is it takes discipline to work through the material.)

The course in MIT OCW does not provide certificates. However you can earn certificates for MITx courses provided on edx.org.
