Solve the equation graphically. Check the results algebraically. x^2-3x = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are your possibilities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i got x=2, x=-1.525957

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me kno if u get it right im pretty sure it is

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

Look at the red dots - that is the solution. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E2-3x+%3D+10 Use the cross-hairs to find a precise solution and plug into the equation to validate. The solution is where the curve, \(x^2-3x\) crosses the line \(y=10\). This happens at two locations. That's what this equation means.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

there are different ways to solve this graphically, you can solve for the vertex first and then solve for the intercepts or you can just proceed and convert the equation into the "vertex" form by completing the square method if need be.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

there is no need to use wolfram alpha or graphing calculator if you have a full understanding of the quadratic equations.
