OpenStudy (amistre64):

and what are your thoughts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking it was < or equal to-1 because it says x-1 so i was thinking it would be..because i honesty dont get how they want me to work it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, two things we have to recall, its a division problem so what do we not want to divide by? we also have sqrts, what make sqrts go bad? do you know the answers to these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

positive 1. and if yu cant reduce it evenly

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dividing by zero is bad, 8x^2 being zero is going to be a sore spot for us. 8x^2 = 0, well, only if x=0, and none of the options include zero so thats pretty much a wash. ------------------------ sqrts go bad if their arguments are negative. 8x^2 is never going to be negative, so the only real question is, when is: 28(x-1) >= 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

at this point, you can simply trial and error the options. 28(-1-1) >= 0 or 28(1-1) >= 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be >1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

almost :) x=1 works for us, so we include it as well x >= 1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

28(x-1) >= 0 , divide off the 28 x-1 >= 0 , add off the -1 x >= 1
