True or false? In general the median of a data is less resistant to outliers than the mean?

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

The median is the middle number or the division of the two middle numbers and doesn't change too much if an outlier is in the data but the mean can change greatly from one change in the data so your answer is true

OpenStudy (dan815):

that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was false

OpenStudy (dan815):

oh ok

OpenStudy (dan815):

what she said is right, just the words are a bit mixed up, the mean can change more easily with outliers so median is MORE resistant, and not LESS resistant, so the answer is false

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Ya sorry about that I mixed that little part up!
