Can someone please help with this question, I don't fully understand what they are asking. Using complete sentences, explain what might happen if the order of operations was used to solve a literal equation.v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depending on the operations used the answer would come out differently. addition: no change multiplication: no change subtraction: change in sign division: change in value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i think they mean P E M D A S or S A D M E P

OpenStudy (muscrat123):

ok. I wrote this, is it right?

If PEMDAS was used instead of SADMEP, the literal equation may be harder to solve for the variable you are wanting to solve for because sometimes you need to use addition or subtraction before using multiplication or division in your problem. Knowing this, the variable would you would still have the variable and would not be able to solve it.

correct!
