How have technological advances in transportation made migration easier, from the Age of Exploration to modern times?

OpenStudy (kristen.4):

Transportation has improved since the Age of Exploration with the help of technology, making the movement of people faster and more efficient. With the invention of the sail, the compass, and the astrolabe, transoceanic voyages became faster, more precise, and more accurate. Over the centuries, other inventions, like the railroad, the airplane, the bus, and the subway, were able to transfer large groups of people from one location to another, sometimes from one country to another, in hours. The invention of the car allowed individuals and families to travel easily and dramatically changed the needs required for migration to and settlement in a certain area. Access to resources improved with innovations in transportation.
