OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

What does it mean for a membrane to be selectively permeable? Only certain molecules are allowed to pass through. The membrane is rigid and only allows water to pass through. All types of molecules are able to pass into the cell. The membrane is rigid and nothing can enter or leave the cell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think if a membrane like a body guard type of doorman. Hes the one who only lets specific people in. and out. hes a selective doorman. what would your answer be?

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Then newer is a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right on! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer*

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

During the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis, light energy is converted into which form of energy? chemical mechanical thermal electrical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would you be so kind as to give a medal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i think i know this

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Absolutely, could help me with the questions I have left please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i can

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i had a project on this let me check it real quick

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

I think it's A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes youre right. it converts into atp and nadph, which are both chemical energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heres the pic i had in my project

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Why is the Calvin cycle considered a dark reaction?

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Why is the Calvin cycle considered a dark reaction? It occurs only at night. It requires an absence of light. It turns the plant dark green. It can proceed in the dark.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is D BECAUSE a dark reaction can either carry out at night or at daytime. it doesnt need sunlight because its not fueled with light. its energy source is CO2 from the air.

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Which is true for both photosynthesis and cellular respiration? They are simple chemical reactions. They are complex chemical reactions. They require light energy from the sun. They require cells to use water.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it can happen either in the dark or at night.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm well im thinking the last one. photosynthesis does require water. but cellular respiration PRODUCES water.

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Which statement best distinguishes plant cells and animal cells? There are more ribosomes in animal cells than in plant cells. Plant cells have more lysosomes than animal cells have. Plant cells have large vacuoles, and animal cells do not. The position of the nucleus in the cells is different in plants and animals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cross out C because they both have vacuoles

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

I think its b

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Is it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly. lysosomes are in animal cells. but they dont even exist in plant cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOAH wait i read that wrong

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Are you gonna be online around 11 pm eastern time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lysosomes are in animal cells but not plant cells so you gotta cross out B too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and no i dont think so why?

OpenStudy (michaeljordan23):

Because I just got to work, and I wondering if you could help me around that time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to review the information about transport mechanisms inside human body. How molecules in the GIT pass to systemic circulation . Why some kinds of antibiotics can't pass through blood brain barrier. All these things are releated to the permeability of membranes . For example , if you have a water soluble molecule in human gut , the gut membran will not allow it to pass. Only hydrophobic molecules can pass through human gut. gut is a selective membran for lipid soluble molecules.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the best answer would be only certain molecules are allowed to pass through. :)
