OpenStudy (superhelp101):

Can anyone tell me more about the volunteering hours and the recommendation letter OS might provide for your college application? thanks

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@Hero

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

@sleepyhead314

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@Data_LG2 knows about the vollunteer hours

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

if you are a good ambassador, preetha would right a recommendation letter for you for free

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

volunteering hours would be based on how many questions you have helped with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check the OS's blog: http://blog.openstudy.com/2014/09/12/need-community-service-hours/ They have attached the volunteer record that they made for me. I asked Ms.Preetha long time ago for my volunteer record before they put it on the Emporium, so I'm not 100% sure if they will provide the same thing or if they will put some changes to it. Oh yeah, for the recommendation letter, I just got one. Ms. Preetha will basically include how are you doing in this site. Almost the same with the volunteer record that I've got but it is more detailed.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

preetha is a dean (currently on leave) of emory univeristy and has a PhD from Yale univeristy she is very qualified to bestow upon such certificates

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

thank you :) but do you have to be an ambassador in order to get volunteer hours?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

for free, yes if you're not ambassador it is probably 50 owlbucks

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

what are the requirements to get volunteer hours?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

a decent number of questions answered

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you purchase it from the Emporium, it will ask you how many medals/questions and SS do you have.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

and getting on preetha's good side

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh okay, and do you know how many hours you will receive from this?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

you would get about 15.5 hours atm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

" 60% of OpenStudy users answer less than 10 questions (Average = 113 answers). On average, users spend about 2 minutes in answering a question." So multiply that time by the number of questions you've answered and just convert it to hours. (That's how they calculate mine)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh that is great! Thank you all very much! How do I let preetha know that i would like to do this?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

told you, only free for good ambassadors not ambi have to pay 50owlbuck pay the owlbuck and you will get

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

emporium

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

sorry if I isnt mak sense very sleepy

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh alrighty. Thank you all very much!!
