Which of the following inequalities matches the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A)2x + y < 7 B)2x − y > 7 C)2x + y < −7 D)The correct inequality is not listed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Tommynaut ???

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

This uses pretty much exactly the same approach as the first question I answered for you. Have a go first, using the methods you just learnt.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

find the equation of the line using points on the line and the slope. then adjust for the inequality.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

slope = change in y divided by change in x one easy point to use what is y when x = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS A OR D?

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

Remember: 1. Pick an easy point inside the region, and see which of A, B, C and D it works for to narrow it down. 2. Rearrange those equations to find the slope and intercept of those lines, and see which match the line given in the picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SORRY A OR C?

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

Yep, it's one of those. Rearrange them both. What are the slopes of A and C? What are the intercepts of A and C? Which slope/intercept combo matches the picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A?

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

Correct! Can you tell me why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Tommynaut ARE YOU THERE?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nerlineg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

I am. And I've already replied to you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea you say is A or C and and i ask you it is A yes or not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Tommynaut

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okhay im here wait a min let me solve it

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

Maybe my message didn't come up, but I said "Correct! Can you tell me why?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its A I THINK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but not how to explain to me more like the corect answer. @Tommynaut

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you see wre the line hits the Y and X axis? look to see if the numbers are positive or negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

were

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you all i have the answer... i put A

OpenStudy (tommynaut):

I don't understand what the problem is @EmilyF03. You got it right, it is A. I just wanted to know how you worked it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

chose who has the best response okok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following inequalities matches the graph? A)x < 2 B)y > 2 C)y < 2 D)x > 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nerlineg @Tommynaut

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well @Tommynaut look at your answer chooses. now lets take A has an example. okhay yohow many spaces will it take to gey to 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many* get*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well which one do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you talking about the last question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im talking aboutt the first one she just post

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, but can you help me with the last question? please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't forget to chose the best response. and ask another question on a different page, it will be better and faster for me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which last one?
