StudyCents Question

So i first joined openstudy yesterday. i have 49 medals in mathematics so i need 1 more for the title. so when i acquire the title, will my smartcents be depleted, or will they stay at the same amount? because the 500 medal is gonna take a whiiile.

I haven't bought a title yet but I do know that I can't buy the 500 smartcents title in the Math section without buying the 50 smartcents title first. Also, your medals have to stay in one particular section to unlock specific titles. For example, I have over 700 medals in the Math section, but those medals are for unlocking Math titles only. Therefore, if I want a title in OpenStudy Feedback then I have to earn my 50 medals.

Note that your "StudyCents" are actually called "SmartCents" for your future reference, but we understood where you were coming from so it's fine. :)

If you unlock a title, SmartCents will get depleted depending on the amount of medals for a title. Your medal count will stay the same and it will show on the "Medals Received" from your profile. This is why the medal you received and your SmartCents will never be equal once you unlock a title.

Actually, that is wrong. You can get the 500 medal title even if you don't get the 50 medal title first. However, if you get the 500 medal title first, then buy the 50 medal title after that, it's permanent. You can't get the "Mathlete" title back and yo will be stuck with "Human Calculator".

then how come I couldn't buy the 500 medal smartcents title first? It wouldn't allow me. It's like I had to accumulate 550 medals to buy Human Calculator first and then Mathlete. ?!?!?!

That is because you didn't get 500 \(medals\) from that one subject, you got medals from other subjects at first. :)

Many users have bought the 500 medal title first, then regretted buying the 50 medal title after that because it is unchangeable.
