This World War II poster was designed to encourage Americans to avoid sharing information that could hurt the war effort. Analyze the types of appeal used in the poster. Use your findings and examples from the poster to explain whether this is an argument or persuasion. Answer in a minimum of three complete sentences. Poster featuring a large hand with finger pointing to single out one man. A newspaper headline that reads, US Ship Sunk By, is shown inside hand. The poster headline reads, Someone Talked Public Domain
It is brief and to the point, literally. It is both an argument - that "Someone talked," causing the ship to be attacked - and a poster of persuasion, strongly attempting to convince others to be careful what they say. The bend at the thump is particularly powerful as the viewer sees what appears to be "00." Were 100 lost? 1,000? Or more?! And was it caused by one Everyday Joe?!
