Divide 8x2 - 6x - 20 by x – 2. Find the quotient and remainder.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Do you know how to factor? You can make it easier by taking out a 2, so you have \[2(4x^2-3x-10)\] for the numerator

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

So now if you remember to factor, you need multiply 4 by -10 to get - 40 and see what two numbers add up to -3 and multiply to -40, you would then get 5 and -8..factoring more you should end up with \[2(4x+5)(x-2)\] so your answer so far should be \[\frac{ 2(4x+5)(x-2) }{ (x-2) }\] you should be able to do the rest.
