THIS IS NOT A SONG! (Although this section should not be songs, but questions about music. But that's none of my business.) Can you reduce 6/8 times to 2/4 times? Im having a difficult time figuring out my bass drum part for "Superman theme" And no one in my family know!
I don't really think so, because the rythm would go "SwwSww" to a "Sw" so the rythm would sound a little odd if you were to change it, you'd have to compensate it with the tempo and some dynamics.
We could use math to solve this one :p . 3/4 time is cut time for 6/8 time So you could not easily convert 6/8 time to 2/4 time because their fractions are not equal.
@sunleaf01 Alright thanks c: I thought it was 2/4 because in math 6/8 can be reduced to 2/4 :/
Wait, no it cant 2/4 is equal to 4/8 not 6/8. @Smashleigh_Kae
While it could technically be converted, it would be very hard to continue the rhythms and make them sound normal. The six-eighth notes can either be grouped into two beats (compound duple) or three beats (simple triple). Since the simple triple pattern already belongs to 3/4 time, 6/8 is compound duple. Notice that each beat in 6/8 is a dotted quarter note. So essentially the dotted quarter note gets the beat.
