Kirk takes a job earning $9.50 an hour, and will get a $0.25 hourly raise every 3 months. Micah’s new job pays $8.50 an hour, with a raise of $0.50 every 3 months. After how long will Micah earn more per hour than Kirk?

OpenStudy (phi):

3 months is 1/4 of a year. so let's use Q (for quarter of a year) 9.50 + 0.25*Q = 8.50 +0.50*Q now solve for Q multiply Q by 3 to get the number of months

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It be 15 months and she'll get .25 more then him

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, it takes 12 months for them to get the same amount and another 3 months for Micah to earn more

Jahee manages two departments at a printer plant: one department assembles the printers and one packages them for shipment. Jahee knows that it take 0.25hrs to assemble each inkjet printer and 2 hrs to assemble each laser printer. She has allotted no more than 120 hours for assembly. She also knows that it takes 1.25 hrs to pack each inkjet printer and 0.5 hrs to pack each laser printer. She has allotted no more than 40 hours for packing. Write and graph a system of inequalities to represent the possible combinations of printers the plant can produce.
