So a subordinate clause starts with a conjunction and is dependent on a main clause. It's known or being dependent >.< They can't make their own sentences, it would be incomplete and wouldn't make sense. An independent could stand as a sentence by itself. In "Early bicycles had one very large wheel and one very small wheel" I see one independent clause, and one subordinate clause. The independent is the "Early bicycles had one very large wheel" the subordinate is "and one very small wheel" It's a subordinate because it wouldn't make sense on it's own and it starts with a conjunction; "And"
