you need to partition this into 4 rectangles and then work out the corresponding lengths and widths using the given dimensions

or you could draw the extra line as above and find the area of the whole rectangle
= 7 *12
then subtract 2 * area of one of the unshaded rectangle ( each = 5 * 6)
