you need to partition this into 4 rectangles and then work out the corresponding lengths and widths using the given dimensions

Ok but I still cant figure it that with that I will appreciate an answer or atleast more info :)

or you could draw the extra line as above and find the area of the whole rectangle = 7 *12 then subtract 2 * area of one of the unshaded rectangle ( each = 5 * 6)
