@victoria2378 The author used words that were not proper English such as $ain't$ and other examples. I'm sure you can think of. 
John S made his characters low class people looking for work who don't have a lot of education. Using this perspective, he was able to show the readers that people like George and Lennie ( low class), still deserve proper medical care, related to human rights issues.
