The pair of values below is from a direct variation. Find the missing number. (2,5) and (4,y)

geerky42 (geerky42):

Direct variation is form \(y = kx\), where k is some unknown number. So first, we need to find k. We are given known point \((2,5)\), so plug that; \(5 = k(2)\quad\Longrightarrow\quad k = \dfrac52\) Now we know k, we can solve for y from point (4, y); \(y = \dfrac{5}{2}(4)=~?\)
