Let's work through the answer choices...
With A, an example would be like let's say we threw a chicken in the ocean, is it going to live? probably not so we can get rid of that one.
With B, that's also not necessarily true because if that chicken we threw in the ocean's eyes changed color (as an example of a mutation) that wouldn't help it survive.
D. An organism will always mutate to survive; not true because that chicken won't necessarily grow gills or fins and swim around.

I'd go with C because it's the only option that makes sense.
