What is the value of the x variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 3x + 2y = 8 2x + 3y = 2

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

You can solve this system of equations by elimination. You will first want to eliminate the y's so you can solve for x. So, multiply the first equation by 3 and the second by 2 to get the y's equal to each other. \[9x+6y=24\] \[4x+6y=4\]

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

Subtract the second equation from the first. You will get.. \[5x=20\]

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

Now you can solve for x.
