THIS IS FOR BECOMING AN AMBASSADOR ON OPENSTUDY Ambassadors are representatives of OpenStudy. We answer questions from new users. We welcome and greet users. It's our job to be the embodiment of OpenStudy's ideologies. Before I go any further, there are strict requirements you must meet. ◘ Be thirteen or older ◘ Have a form of ID - excluding a birth certificate ◘ Have no serious offenses on your record ◘ If you have serious offenses, an additional process may be required ◘ Have read the Code of Conduct and Terms, and understand the rules Do you meet these requirements? If so, then please read the next part of the process. There are some key behaviors that Ambassadors must express ◘ As an Ambassador, you agree to always be kind and understanding ◘ As an Ambassador you should let users know you appreciate them ◘ Congratulate and reward positive behavior, and discourage negative behavior ◘ Lead by example! ◘ Respect the staff - never talk ill of OpenStudy ◘ Never disclose personal information if shared with you Do you feel like Ambassadorship is something you would want to do? Do you want a bright future with OpenStudy? Then become an Ambassador! [NOTE: The application, or form, is often subject to change. A message will be posted in either the Ambassador Group or OpenStudy Feedback with details on how to submit an application] You can contact @e.mccormick , @thomaster , @shrutipande9 , @ashleyisakitty or @hartnn for additional Ambassador opportunities. form link: https://docs.google.com/a/openstudy.com/forms/d/14kZejqKJuYBxuRCxCjwa-rAUtScOYB6KTlrZDmYLTGM/viewform http://blog.openstudy.com/2014/01/30/openstudys-diplomatic-corps/ http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/5500a830e4b0dc5d8bd5db63-e.mccormick-1426110412484-iwannabeanambi.pdf
ok thats cool. but one question, what does it mean you cant have any serious offenses. offenses were on OS or were?
It means that you can't be suspended for a serious offensive such as actions that are against the Code of Conduct or Terms and Conditions.
*offense. what is wrong with me lol
How to become a Moderator: First rule: You must be 18+, due to legal issues. Second rule: You have to be, and act mature. Then you have to win the respect of this community through interaction, knowledge and the ability to interact and intervene in an appropriate manner. It is in big part based on participation, courtesy and respect. The most important thing is that you let the administrators and moderators know that you can see things going awry, and that you are willing to make some effort to solve/prevent it. And certainly NOT in a way like messaging them about how bad you want to be a moderator (this will only work contradictory), but they have to notice that you are up for the job. Then, when they decide they need more moderators, you might get asked. ◘ Being on the site for a fair amount of time. (usually more than 6 months) ◘ Be a good and active user on the site ◘ Having a squeaky clean abuse record. ◘ Have good rapport with fellow users. ◘ Having a good sense of justice. ◘ Being an expert in some field. Most of the mods are math geniuses. But any subject would suffice. ◘ Doing a great job in the ambassador program. In the ambassador training period, you'll learn how the rules work on OpenStudy and you'll learn how to make the right decisions. ◘ Hope you'll get lucky when they decide to add more moderators! ~thomaster
I have a suggestion: Make How to be an ambassador? How to be a moderator? with all guidelines and rules a sticky post so that important pieces of information can be easily located.
Do you have any other questions @oleg3321
yes if i want to sign up do you have to get another moderator or ambassador to say you are ok for the job?
can you please be more specific
like if i sign up do i have to get another moderator to say that i am god for the job to who ever hires?
If its for ambassador then about 5 moderators will vote Yes,no, maybe or idk i forgot that part and you have to get around 3 yeses to be ambi i think its 3 but yea then you move on from there. Mod position you have to be chosen etc so theres no sign up
but for ambassador you sign up?
Yes you sign up and go thru picking etc and mods are chosen etc.
ok and one more question whats the difference between mods and ambassadors ?
oh and actaully do you have to be level 99?
or score 99? whatever it is lol
Mods have the power to suspend, kick, give warnings etc Ambis dont really have any power except giving ideas for a better OS, welcoming and setting and eample Not really no :D but you have to be here for atleast 6months or so
Moderators protect and improve OpenStudy, Ambassadors share and improve OpenStudy :)
Following.
As for the initial question of admins, admins are the ones who run the site, and I've actually seen admins get hired before even making an account here on OS. So it's a bit complicated for the admin part. For the mod part, I've heard that they even get an interview with Preetha herself! Mods aren't frequently picked though, because there are many mods that go on each day and keep the site running smoothly.
ok cool thak you guys
Heh Heh. Nice job answering this question you guys!
