Help ? What transformation has changed the parent function f(x) = log3x to its new appearance shown in the graph below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x − 2) f(x + 2) f(x) − 2 f(x) + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got f(x-2) I just wana know if im right

OpenStudy (misty1212):

hmm i am not sure that is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then how would you get the right answer?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

looks like the graph of the log has been moved down by 2 units, not to the right by 2 units

OpenStudy (misty1212):

see how you have \((3,-1)\) on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[\log_3(3)=1\] to get it to be \(-1\) you would subtract 2

OpenStudy (misty1212):

also you have \((1,-2)\) on the graph and \[\log_3(1)=0\]

OpenStudy (misty1212):

again subtract 2 i would go with \[\log_3(x)-2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would that be the answer, well f(x)-2 ?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)
