What structures are most valued by our society?

OpenStudy (jasmineetta):

In many societies, value to structures is based upon their age or emotional value. Structures that denote a region's history represent an element of pride and belonging. For example, ancient Roman architecture, built using mechanical ingenuity, stand strong today and represent the culture's history and continued survival. However, structures that are also newer can hold strong values due to sentimental characteristics. For example, the 9/11 memorial in NYC is a new addition to the architectural framework of the city but holds a strong value for local citizens due to its representation of a shared tragedy.
