(GIVE MEDAL) How many solutions does the following equation have? |6x + 12| = −18 A)No solution B)One solution C)Two solutions D)Infinitely many solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) no solution, but i'm not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what inverse operations is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well inverse operations is used to isolate x or in other words get x by itself on one side of the equation to find out what it equals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, what i need to do now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we need to move 12 since its on the same side of x so since it is positive ( + 12) we need to subtract it from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the equation will look like 6x = -30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

understand so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i think its B or C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IM RIGHT?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well lets finish the equation you would then divide by 6 since its originally multiplying by x so you get x = -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so B one solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so the correct answer its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU!!!!!
