When two cards are drawn from a standard deck, what is the probability of not drawing a face card or a red card?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well lets assume that there is 52 cards in a deck, there are 4 different types of cards (hearts, clovers, ace of spades and diamonds) there are two different color cards in the deck red and black each type of card has 13 cards in its group

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 26 red cards so 26 out of 52 is about 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since there are 4 jacks, 4 queens, and 4 kings (which are all face cards) 12 out of 52 the probability would be 3/13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would 3/13 be the final answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the face cards yes is it asking for the red card and the face card together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is asking for the probability of not drawing a face or a red card, so I think both.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then 52/52 = 1 whole minus the 1/2 plus the 1/3 would be your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect, thank you so much!!!!!!!!

no problem glad i could help!
