"Es a las...." means __________ is at...(whatever time)-- Example: La fiesta es a las 9:00. The party is at 9:00. "Son las..." means "It is (whatever time)-- Example: Son las 9:00. It's nine o'clock. ¿Qué hora es? What time is it? Es la una...... It's one o'clock. vs. ¿A qué hora es la lección? What time is the lesson? Es a la una.... It's at one o'clock.
