Which best describes fertilization and meiosis in the life cycle of plants? I. These processes are part of the life cycle. II. These processes produce gametophytes. III. Fertilization produces a zygote, and meiosis produces haploid spores. IV. Fertilization is used only by seedless plants; meiosis is used only by seed plants. A.I and III B.I and IV C.II and III D.II and IV

OpenStudy (rushwr):

my opinion is A II answer is out because meiosis doesn't produces gametophytes but they form spores. IV is wrong as meiosis also occurs in spore producing vascular plants which aren't seed plants. and also fertilization occurs in both seedless and seed plants. ex: in flowering plants double fertilization occur hence I'll go with I and III which is the answer A.

OpenStudy (bioepic):

Yes, the answer is A as the other two do not make sense.
