The average rate of change from x=a, to x=b is the slope between the two points \((a,~f(a))\) and \((b,~f(b))\). This slope will be given by the following expression: \(\displaystyle {\rm m}=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\) (where \(\rm m\) is the slope)
