Which of the following patterns or images could best be described by a translation? A. chairs around a round table B. seats on a school bus C. baby bird and mother bird D. left and right hand

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

a translation doesn't do anything... there's no rotation and no reflection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you think it would be D then.?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

no.... try lift your left hand and right hand up.. make the left hand the original image... what do you notice when you look at your right hand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh actually I think it's B. cause school bus seats are the same size and are always facing the same direction.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :)

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

because for a say we have an original chair and then place it at another location near the table... it's a rotation, so that's out and isometry preserves size and shape. Isometric transformation preserves the image and pre-image and doesn't change in size so the birds are out. The bus seats don't change at all and preserve the same size :)
