What will be the perimeter and the area of the rectangle below if it is enlarged using a scale factor of 7.5? Will give medals!
If we enlarge something "to scale" or "by a factor" or "using a scale factor" we simply multiply each side of the object by the same amount, by the factor. In this case the scale factor is 7.5 so multiply each side by 7.5 and we will get a new rectangle with longer sides. 6*7.5 = 45 8 * 7.5 = 60 |dw:1437408705943:dw| What is the area and perimeter of this larger, "scaled" rectangle?
ummmmm i don't get it
Area = lw Perimeter = 2(l + w)
Since it is "increased/enlarged " using "scale factor" We can, safely,do this: 6*7.5 and 8*7.5
6*7.5 = 45 8*7.5 = 60
Perimeter = 2(l + w)=2(45 + 60) = 2(105) = 210cm Area = lw = 45*60 = 2700cm^2
