I've attached a problem I'm working on (4c-2) as an image. I don't understand how they interpreted the function conditions geometrically. They seem to have simply treated y as equal to x^2. However the conditions say y< or = to x^2. It seemed to me that that doesn't specify a definite function. Could someone walk me through the solution. Thanks.

I think they mistakenly left out the lower limit on x, and the conditions should read \[ 0 \le y \le x^2 \text{ and } 0 \le x \le 1 \]
